touch on it

When I was dating one of my friends told me to touch boys' elbows and I would get dates. :) It turned out to be good advice. :) Zach actually remembers when I touched his elbow!

That just verify's to me that touch is important!

The apple for the day: come up behind your spouse and hold them. If you are "discussing" something that increases tension between you. Touch during the discussion. Stay close enough to touch each other.

Remember when?

Remember when you were dating? What sorts of things did you do for your Love? You weren't always together. What did you do when you were apart?
I know I wrote Zach's name a lot when I was at work. :) ...and my soon to be last name. :)
I would send him texts, emails and call him and ask how things were going or how they went. I definitely paid attention to how much I did these things because I didn't want to annoy him. I would tell him what a hottie he was and how awesome I thought he was!
When I went shopping, I would think about what he would want to eat and get that. When I saw him for the first time that day or when he came to pick me up, I would give him a hug. We would hold hands while driving, sitting, walking...etc. And when he left I would totally give him a kiss!

The apple for the day is: think about the things you did before you were married and do some of those today! If you have time to talk to your spouse today, you could ask them for some things they remember that you did. I love thinking about those times! Have a great day!

First date of the year!

Are you one of those couples who thinks about your beginnings and giggles? If it is a fun idea to do something you did when you were dating, then do it!

Some of mine and Zach's first dates were:
* playing a basketball game, making homemade pizza and smoothies.
* dinner at Wingers'
* a Recycle Percussion concert
* studying at the library
* making art...for our gen ed. art class

If it isn't a fun idea to repeat some of your first dates. Then recreate. Do something you wish you had done.
* most guys wish they could have gone swimming...
* most girls would have loved to go dancing...
* most everybody loves a good dinner...

Have to stay home...
have dinner, dance and then have a shower...
dance, shower, have dinner...

Oh, you figure out the order! :)

These would be some sweet conversation starters...
*why did you ask me out?
*why did you say yes?
*why did you keep asking me out?
*why did you keep saying yes?
*why did you ask me to marry you?
*why did you say yes?

Once upon a time...

So everyone has their own story and I would like to hear yours...well, at least in part. :)

1.was it love at first sight?

2.what was your first date?

3.when was your first kiss?

4.how long have you been married?

5.were you scared to get married?

6.did you help pick out your ring?

7.how many times have you moved?

8.kids?

9.favorite trip taken?

10.dream trip?

1. yes. for me anyway. Zach took a little patience on my part. :)
2. basketball, homemade pizza, smoothies and Frequency (the moveie).
3. second date. held hands and kissed the same night!
4. 6 years!
5. i was scared to get engaged but once i got over that...i was THRILLED to get married!
6. nope, Zach picked it out all by himself. :) i was quite impressed.
7. two. once into our first house and then to this one.
8. yes, three and probably more sometime...later. :)
9. i couldn't name them all but these come to mind. Oregon (honeymoon), California, Jackson Hole, Arizona, Ireland, Hawaii.
10. 10 day river rafting or back packing trip, hiking or horse back. Doesn't that sound fun?!

I know, I know!

I know it's Monday. Sometimes Mondays are just crazy because we are trying to catch up from the weekend....and then some.

The Apple for the day is:
How about having some fun being a flirt with your spouse. Send them cute texts, when they come home give them an extra long kiss and a slap on the bum. :)
Okay, I'm not going to spell it out for you! Act like your are dating again & just have fun!

What are you doing tonight?

So, it's Thursday and I'm sure you all have had your date for this week planned since 2 weeks ago, but around here.....we are a little more spontaneous than that.
That is exactly what I am recommending......be spontaneous! Do something you haven't done in a while or something you just think of as you are leaving the house or babysitters. Here are two ideas:
Drive to a nearby ski resort, or some cool overlook and make out. Well, you don't have to do JUST that when you are there, but enjoy some time alone away from the city.
After the kids are in bed go to the largest room in your house and get two brooms or sticks or toy baseball bats or even your hands and play a game of hockey with a ball of some sort (the larger and softer the better, but even a tennis ball will do). Trust me......this is FUN!!! You get a good laugh, some exercise and then you can make a milkshake afterwards.

Have fun on your date this weekend! Tell us what you did or have planned.....we would love to hear!!!

think about it!

Okay in that Marriage Fitness book I told you about previously, we've been reading a chapter on dating and why it is so necessary. I found this paragraph interesting:
"I know a couple who were avid tennis players. They enjoyed tennis together throughout their courtship. Two years after they married, their marriage was in trouble. When was the last time they played tennis together? About two years ago. Is tennis only for dating?"
The apple for the day is: ask your spouse to think with you for a minute about things you did when you were dating. What did you enjoy doing together? Set it up, do it for date night!

What did you enjoy doing together when you were dating?
