It is the beginning of the month. I would have posted this yesterday but I'm up to my elbows in pears, beans, corn, zucchini, and laundry... and well, yesterday was labor day, so labor we did. :) (too bad, it's not just a one day thing. :))
Since it is the beginning of the month (& the start of the school year) I thought I'd share what we are doing to make sure we are making the most of our time.
Zach and I are talking goals, what we want to make sure we do every day, week, & month and that we fit in working toward our yearly goals. So, we're taking our notebook and writing out everything that needs to be done from scripture study, canning, date nights/ temple nights, child & parent dates to soccer. There is a lot on that list!
It feels good to control it though. When it is on the calendar it is closer to getting done than if we didn't discuss it or write it down. I can anticipate that this date night is an out of the house one and I need to get a babysitter. Because come 6:30 on Friday night I can never get anyone. Go figure. :)
When we analyze our responsibilities and our goals and counsel together I feel so much more proactive and less frazzled and reactive.
There is a lot to do, so, "there certainly isn't time to waste".
When we talk goals we reign into what is really important. One thing that is huge for us and I'm sure is huge for you is, having our home be a refuge. A place where our children & we feel safe and friends do too.
In THIS talk by Elder Scott he say's, "The prophetic counsel to have daily personal and family prayer, daily personal and family scripture study, and weekly family home evening are the essential, weight-bearing beams in the construction of a Christ-centered home. Without these regular practices it will be difficult to find the desired and much-needed peace and refuge from the world."
I hope that this is helpful and that you will join us if you haven't already & counsel together weekly. Talk about what's important, what you'd like life to be like and plan it. I hope that this will be enjoyable for you and that you will approach this as a team.
As we discuss things together I've noticed that I find out what Apples Zach needs. Ideas come to my mind of how I can contribute.

This does take time but I feel like it is so worth it. Don't you?
