come what may, and love it.
I hope you'll watch THIS little clip. What a great reminder Elder Wirthlin gave us to laugh and put our trust in the Lord.

a new week...
How was your weekend? Zach got a deer! That's how our weekend was. :)
I have been thinking lately about creating. Isn't it nice when you create something? -something that wasn't there before? I love that feeling!
What can you create in your marriage? Love. Service. Laughter. Understanding.
What comes to your mind?
My apple for the day will be: Pay attention to the funny things the kids say or do, write them down and laugh with Zach later. If they don't do anything funny then I'll find something online to laugh at. :)
What are you going to do today?
Monday, August 8, 2011
oh that's funny...
Sometimes life can just be serious. I don't know how I really manage to be serious with three kids but I do. I have to work a little harder and remembering to laugh.
So, the apple for the day is: find something to laugh about with your spouse. Consider purchasing a joke book. (Abraham Lincoln read a joke a day) Or spend some time on YouTube and listen to kids laughing. There is always THIS one that I find quite comical.
What do you do to break up the ordinary and get a good laugh with your spouse?

now THAT'S refreshing!
I know you already have your date for this weekend planned...
Okay, here are some ideas just in case-or to use next weekend or during the week if you are during the week daters...
HOCKEY GAME!!! The thought makes me happy. I love watching hockey!...and eating nachos.
Sledding. I have said this one before but hey, there is still snow on the ground! Come back and try and make the most gourmet looking hot chocolate you can.
Board games or puzzles. This might be old news to you but we just heard the idea so I will share. You know the game Sequence? When it is your turn to put down a chip, lay your card face down instead of face up...so it can't be seen. You play it like B.S.! Sounds fun huh? (sorry if you've never played that game before.. that probably didn't make any sense :))
Or, you could always go HERE and watch some clips of Brian Regan. :) (watch the coke clips) I love it when I laugh out loud! That's refreshing!
Have a great weekend!

I had a laugh with these. Hope you enjoy them too! Happy Friday!

mommy said...
"Hey daddy? Mommy thinks you're cute".
Have you ever sent compliments to your spouse via your children? You might even be able to do it over and over with them same or different children and send a few compliments their way. If you have older kids, try bribing them to take the message. Then it might just come as a shocker and probably a good laugh later! (I am laughing at the thought of those of you with teenagers! good times!)
Well, try that for an apple!

what is lacking?
What is that thing that is lacking in your marriage? What is it that you wish your spouse would do for you or that characteristic you wish your spouse had? These are questions worth answering.
What is your ideal? -more romance? more laughter? more spontaneity?
After you have answered these questions...the apple for the day is:
If you are pointing the finger at your spouse, wishing they would do something more or be something else- then do that and be that yourself! If you want more romance then be more romantic. If you want more laughter then find things that make you laugh and laugh more (share these things with your spouse and laugh together)...you get the idea right? I think you will be surprised that your spouse will notice a difference and follow suit.

Spooky Spouse
It is Saturday. You are probably busy like I am doing Halloweenish things. While you are at it, leave some spooky sweet notes about.
Dear Zach,

you are the scum between my toes
Love,
Your Spooky Wife

spooky, shmooky
I love to scare Zach. We both laugh every time because I am so good at it. Okay, I might laugh a little harder than he does. :)
If you choose to follow my example and scare your spouse for a good laugh, then just make sure to kiss them until they have forgiven you. :)
good times to you.

I think I'm funny :)

I know it isn't Sunday but I wanted to quote Elder Wirthlin from his talk "Come what may and love it"
"The next time you’re tempted to groan, you might try to laugh instead. It will extend your life and make the lives of all those around you more enjoyable."
No matter what boat you are in, sometimes life can just be hard. Lets try to follow his counsel and laugh a little more huh?
Apple for the day: laugh when you don't feel like it,...until you feel like it. :)
I would love to hear stories of how you accomplish this!!! Seriously!

I know, I know!
I know it's Monday. Sometimes Mondays are just crazy because we are trying to catch up from the weekend....and then some.
The Apple for the day is:
How about having some fun being a flirt with your spouse. Send them cute texts, when they come home give them an extra long kiss and a slap on the bum. :)
Okay, I'm not going to spell it out for you! Act like your are dating again & just have fun!

Ice Cold?

Well, it wasn't ice cold - but refrigerator cold. The effect would've been the same either way.
I was asked recently to get my wife a glass of water, so I got the cup, went to the tap- then paused a moment and decided to get the pitcher out of our fridge with water that was now nicely chilled. Why you might ask? She was taking a nice warm (actually hot) bath. I had to resist pouring it on her because, well, let's just say all our kids would've woken up if I did it because she would not have expected it. Every once in a while I like to enjoy a good laugh, but not always at the expense of somebody else.
Apple for the day: See if there is an opportunity to do something to your spouse that would cause a sudden burst of LAUGHTER - not screaming by the way. Maybe it is hiding behind a door on your way to bed, or a plastic bug from your kids' toys in the bed, or just a nice good hearted funny joke or video on youtube. Whatever it is - laugh today, it is great medicine and really fun.

Make em' laugh!

It is time to gear up and start thinking of what we are gonna do for April Fools Day!
I found this great blog with some awesome ideas for "Romance on a budget". Check out her ideas for April Fools!
Here are a few incentives to do something to make your spouse laugh on April Fools Day!

Husbands Marriage Advice...
You shouldn't ever throw snow at your wife while in a nice, warm, relaxing, soothing bath - She may NEVER forgive you. Next time, just dump a glass of cold water over the shower curtain - then she can't see you :) That's a better idea - it's quickly replaced with warm water anyway.
From - Zach (The husband who would never do such a thing)

should go without saying...
but just in case.
When your wife is recovering from the flu and is taking a relaxing bath.
Don't throw snow at her.
I know none of you husbands would ever do that.
I know mine never would.
but just in case. :)
